FACULTY MENTORSHIP AND HANDS ON TRAINING

The distinguished professors of IIT-KGP provide the right mentorship on varied sets of knowledge in different avenues to the entrepreneurs of STEP which in turn get rich experience in dealing with practical complexities of business formation and management.  STEP assists entrepreneurs by networking them with these distinguished faculties belonging to various field on various aspects of importance from an entrepreneur’s perspective ranging from business, communications, finance and management of a company.  It thus acts as a learning lab for all. For the rural innovators, STEP -GOPALI is an experience to cherish with as it assists them by directly establishing an interface with the faculty and get readymade solutions hands on.
The mentoring process at STEP closely involves the guidance & knowledge pool of IIT KGP professors along with Prof. Biswas,(instrumental in the formation of 7 companies all over the world) who has taken the lead role as the managing director in order to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture in the entire North and North-Eastern India. The professors include Prof. Ikhlaq Sidhu (University of Berkeley), Prof. Dipankar Chakravarty (university of Colorado) Prof. P.P. Chakraborti (Computer Science, IIT KGP), Prof. Indrajit Dubey ( RSIPR, IIT, KGP), Prof. K D. Raju of Rajiv Gandhi School of IPR, Prof. R. N. Banerjee of Industrial Engineering, Prof. I Sengupta of computer science, Prof. Satyahari Dey of Bio-technology, Prof. K. K. Guin of Management Science, and Suman Chakrabarty of mechanical department who play an instrumental role in shaping the incubation activities at IIT-KGP .
The whole process of catering to the entrepreneurs at STEP takes place in a hyperactive mode through the active support of hi-tech management and infrastructure provisions with a major concern for efficient communication. Efficient trading practices with good management assists the entrepreneurs to gain valuable lessons in managing there own business, when they plan to implement there idea outside the lab stage in to a larger scale immediately after there exit. The close marketing strategy followed for marketing there innovations is also an important aspect in which the entrepreneurs get regular support from the faculty both inside as well as abroad.
