TREMAP Funding Support From STEP » TREMAP Technology Refinement Marketing Programme (TREMAP) is a new programme initiated by TIFAC (http://www.tifac.org.in) with the objective of enabling commercialization of technologies/ products with suitable interventions including techno-economic assessments of technologies / products, refinement of technologies, patenting support and supporting technology commercialization organizations. A network of Technology Commercialization Facilitation Agencies (TCFAs) has been established to facilitate implementation of the programme with IIT Kharagpur as one of the TCFA centre established with the objective “To Facilitate Linkages of Developed Products and Innovative Technologies with Market”. The main areas where TREMAP is working to address are: (1) assisting refinement support for crude Prototypes developed by innovators not conforming to market requirements to address the greater needs of the market (2) to provide market linkages normally not available to the individuals. Three innovative proposals’ has been already approved for refinement and commercialization under this scheme. TCFA, IIT Kharagpur helps innovators for preparing product proposals which includes following details: - Technology profile - IPR search - Market potential - Technology refinement plan as per market needs - Marketing and technology transfer plan (endorsed by the user industry)
TBI Seed Support » TBI Seed Support   In the present state of economic growth sweeping the country, many startups are young and evolving and often are reluctant to establish a web of co-operative but uncertain external commitments. There is a great need to support these startups and innovators with viable support mechanisms like funding, lab support, specialized mentoring and manpower support which can be possible only if they are closely knit with the changes taking place in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. TBIs provide the necessary support at there disposal in the form of wet incubation like space and monetary support, infrastructure support like specialized labs ,and mentoring facilities at places where they have been set up. Most of these TBI are located inside HEIs which assist in providing the much needed support. TBI IIT Kharagpur makes available local solutions in various ways to the local people through infrastructure support.   a. Guidelines for Availing TBI Seed Fund Guiding Features of Proposed Assistance Fund available for indigenous ideas and technologies requiring up-scaling and related work Fund would be disbursed to the deserving incubates with proper due diligence. MSME Funding via STEP » MSME MSME has been a major contributor to India’s development and has immensely contributed to the growth of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As per the available statistics of the Government of India (4th Census of MSME Sector), MSME sector employs an estimated 59.7 million persons spread over 26.1 million enterprises. It is estimated that in terms of value, MSME sector accounts for about 45% of the manufacturing output and around 40% of the total export of the country. The special thrust to this sector has been with the multiple objectives of creating employment generation across all sectors and domains and regions, regional dispersal of industries and as a seedbed for Entrepreneurship and innovation which has led the Government of India to set up various centers all over the country to aid innovation. The MSME centre at STEP/TBI IIT Kharagpur is in its second year of establishment and within a short period of time has aided in providing innovation support to eight companies/entrepreneurs with the intent to leverage innovation to create sustainable products which could spawn the growth of the companies in the long run.
TePP Support »TEPP Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP) was launched as a new initiative by the Ministry of Science and Technology, DSIR (http://www.dsir.gov.in) in collaboration with TIFAC on 15th August 1998 to promote Technology innovations in India. Later the DSIR was entrusted with the sole responsibility of the TEPP initiative while TREMAP an aspect of commercialization of innovations was entrusted to TIFAC. Since its establishment in 2007, Regional TePP Outreach Center (RTUC) IIT-Kharagpur has been working hard to promote innovation in the entire Eastern region of the country with active support of its open innovation network partner across 30 other centers in India and with considerable DSIR support. Till date, 30 funded projects are already at different stages of implementation by the innovators under direct monitoring of the RTUC and some more proposals are under active consideration for possible support as well. It can fairly be mentioned that RTUC- IIT–Kharagpur has within a short period of time, emerged as a prominent center for innovation funding under TePP, DSIR active cooperation. The objective at RTUC in consonance with the vision of the Government of India has been to promote and support untapped creativity of individual innovators to become technology entrepreneurs (Technopreneurs) by providing all types of support, mentoring, financial, consultancy in networking and thus forging links with other constituents of the innovation chain for commercialization of the innovation. IIT Kharagpur is a strategic knowledge partner for an entrepreneur. It is a synergy of the various schools of engineering, sciences, management studies, intellectual property law, medical science and technology and information technology. Technology Business Incubation (TBI) has both student and faculty representatives from each of the above schools and thus creates a synergy of people, processes and technology. It imparts unique entrepreneurial knowledge and skills related to new enterprise creation and management to meet the trends and opportunities presented by the following:

TBI took it one-step forward to leverage knowledge based offerings with advanced delivery mechanism for today’s/ tommorrow’s entrepreneurs. TBI enables academia, industry, and government to work together to explore emerging interdisciplinary areas from the viewpoints of rapid innovation, creativity, and job creation, thereby establishing Indian leadership in emerging interdisciplinary areas.The Technology Business Incubation at IIT Kharagpur strives to demystify entrepreneurship by exposing students and interested general public to the issues faced by budding entrepreneurs and growing companies, and by providing a rich set of tools for addressing those challenges. The TBI emerges from an integrated expandable module combining existing IIT Entrepreneurship development societies such as Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Training Society (TIETS) which is Phase I Incubation for students, Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) which is Phase II Incubation for external and internal to IIT and Entrepreneurship Cell that is spearheading student enterprising activities as E-summit, B-Plan/Ideation/Case study contests, seminars etc along-with a variety of entrepreneurial government programs. This will focus on business innovation, knowledge management, education and research in entrepreneurship, business incubation, and provides access to quality entrepreneurial information resources.
